Warm, sensitive, and uplifting: This romantic film isn’t about people with disabilities—it’s told by people living with them

Kati (Cindy Klink) is deaf; Florian (David Knors) is blind. He’s a stadium announcer for FC St. Pauli; she discovers the world through her camera. When they meet at the Dialoghaus Hamburg, they develop their own language—beyond words and gestures, sustained by closeness and courage. But their different worlds and the expectations of their families and communities repeatedly put their relationship to the test. To outsiders, their love seems almost impossible—and that is precisely why it possesses such special power. Director Milan Skrobanek has crafted a touching and unusual love story about two people who find their way to each other despite major communication challenges. The authentic casting—featuring a deaf and a blind lead actor—is particularly compelling, making the story feel credible and true to life. The film succeeds not only in addressing inclusion as a theme but also in exemplifying it as a matter of course. At the same time, it offers a sensitive insight into the lives of its characters without reducing them to their disabilities. A must-see production that shows that genuine connections can form where others see only obstacles “A sensitively balanced, touching love story about an unusual relationship with surprisingly ordinary problems.” (Lexikon des Internationalen Films)
